I’m from India and currently on an H-1B visa, working in Iowa. I recently traveled back home for a short leave, but I just heard news that might affect visa stamping delays. What should I do if my return gets delayed?

If visa appointments are delayed, try securing an emergency slot through the U.S. consulate’s online system. Provide proof that your job requires you to return soon. Your employer’s support letter can strengthen your request.

Stay in close contact with your employer and immigration attorney. They can update your travel status and help you avoid issues with maintaining valid H-1B status.

If delays stretch too long, ask your employer about remote work options until you can return. Keep documentation of all your attempts to schedule the appointment. This will help show good faith compliance with visa rules.
