I’m from India and currently living in Louisiana on an H-1B visa. My employer might relocate me to another state next month. Do I need to file an amendment with USCIS before moving, or can I update my address later?

Yes, your employer must file an H-1B amendment before you start working in a new location.

The amendment ensures your Labor Condition Application (LCA) matches the new worksite. Failing to update it can cause compliance issues with USCIS. Always confirm the petition is filed before physically moving or starting work elsewhere.

If your employer has multiple offices and your LCA already covers the new area, an amendment might not be required. However, updating your personal address with USCIS is still mandatory within 10 days of your move.
