I’m from Azerbaijan, and I’ve been in New Orleans for about two months now on a tourist visit. I originally came just to relax, enjoy the culture, and spend time exploring the city. But recently, an unexpected opportunity came up for me to start working here, and it’s something I’m genuinely excited about. I’m not sure what the legal process is for switching from a tourist stay to a work situation while already in the U.S. What should someone in my position know about accepting a job offer, changing status, or avoiding immigration problems?

You cannot legally work in the U.S. on a tourist visa, so accepting the job now would violate your status.

To work legally, you would need an employer willing to sponsor a proper work visa, and you may have to return home to process it. Changing status inside the U.S. is sometimes possible, but not guaranteed.
