if I marry a US citizen, can I apply for citizenship earlier than 5 years?

Only if you are a green card holder

you can apply for citizenship after 3 years of being a permanent resident

It is usually 5 yrs but if you are married to a citizen, it is just for 3 yrs

You can apply after three years but you must have lived as a green card holder for those three years
