Marriage to a U.S. citizen can be a pathway to obtaining a green card, which allows permanent residency in the U.S. 

After obtaining a green card, the non-U.S. citizen spouse may be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship through naturalization. 

However, marriage alone does not automatically grant citizenship or the right to remain in the U.S., especially if facing deportation.
