If I am facing deportation, must I use the lawyer they give me in immigration court? And how do I know they are not working for the government to send me back to my country

You will get your own lawyer, the government does not give you a free lawyer.

The only lawyer who represents the government is the DHS attorney. Any attorney you hire must represent you only and keep your information confidential. They cannot help the government remove you
