If a U.S. citizen petitions for their sibling, but the sibling gets married during the process, how does it affect the case?

Unlike LPR petitions, U.S. citizens can petition for married siblings, so the petition still remains valid.

However, the wait time in the F4 category (siblings of U.S. citizens) can be decades, depending on the country.

If the petitioner was only a green card holder when filing, marriage would make the case invalid.

Marriage can also impact derivative beneficiaries; children of the sibling may age out if the process is delayed.
