I was ordered removed several years ago but never left the United States. Is there any way to reopen my case or apply for relief now?

In certain situations, a motion to reopen may be filed to request that the immigration court reconsider your case. Motions to reopen are typically subject to strict deadlines, but exceptions may apply if new evidence has emerged or if you now qualify for relief that was previously unavailable. Changed country conditions or newly available family-based petitions may provide grounds for reopening.

Reopening a case requires demonstrating legal justification and submitting supporting documentation. If granted, the court will schedule new proceedings to evaluate your eligibility for relief. However, if deadlines have passed, special exceptions or joint motions with government counsel may be required. Each case must be carefully evaluated based on its specific facts and procedural history.
