I recently received a Notice to Appear (NTA) from ICE, but I am a green card holder. Could this be a mistake, and how should I verify its accuracy? What steps can I take if ICE is incorrectly addressing me in removal proceedings?

Yes, ICE can make administrative errors, even sending an NTA to a lawful permanent resident.

You should immediately verify your status and compare it with the NTA details. Contacting an immigration attorney can help identify discrepancies and prepare a formal response. Filing evidence of your green card status with the court can prevent wrongful proceedings.

Do not ignore the NTA or miss the hearing date, even if you believe it is a mistake. The court can dismiss the case once your lawful status is confirmed. Acting quickly and documenting everything is essential to protect your rights.
