I recently moved to Los Angeles from Arizona about two weeks ago, and I’m originally from Kosovo. I’m still on a work visa and just started a new job here. Someone told me I need to update my address with USCIS, but I’m not sure how that works or if it affects my employment authorization. Does changing my address in a different state impact my visa status or job eligibility? I don’t want to risk any issues with my paperwork or work authorization while settling into my new role.

Yes, you must update your address with USCIS within 10 days of moving by filing Form AR-11 online. This doesn’t affect your work authorization but keeps your records current and avoids potential issues.

Every non-citizen in the U.S. is required to report a new address to USCIS within 10 days of moving. You can do this quickly online through your USCIS account or by submitting Form AR-11. It won’t affect your visa or job, but failing to update it can lead to complications later.

Changing your address doesn’t change your visa status or job eligibility, but USCIS requires you to update your location information. File Form AR-11 within 10 days to stay compliant. If you have any pending immigration applications, updating your address ensures you receive all correspondence and notices on time. Keeping your information current also helps avoid delays or confusion in case of a future renewal or visa transfer.
