I recently became a permanent resident and I want to apply for citizenship later. How long do I have to wait before I can submit the naturalization application

Most permanent residents must wait five years before applying for US citizenship. If you received your green card through marriage to a US citizen and you are still married and living together, you may qualify to apply after three years instead. In either situation you are allowed to submit the application up to 90 days before reaching the required residency period.
