I received a Request for Evidence after my marriage-based green card interview. Does this mean my case is weak or about to be denied?

An RFE after an interview does not automatically mean denial. USCIS may simply need clarification or additional documentation to finalize the case. Officers sometimes realize after the interview that a specific document is missing or needs updating. Responding fully and on time is crucial, as incomplete responses can lead to denial even when the marriage is genuine.

Post-interview RFEs are fairly common, especially in marriage-based cases. They may request joint financial evidence, updated medical exams, or additional proof of shared life. The key is to treat the request seriously and respond with organized, clear documentation. Many cases are approved shortly after a strong RFE response is submitted.

While an RFE can be stressful, it is better than an outright denial. It means the officer is giving you an opportunity to strengthen the record. Pay close attention to deadlines and instructions. Submitting more than requested is usually fine, but submitting irrelevant or confusing documents can slow things down.
