I overstayed my visa for more than a year and now I want to come back to the US. What are the consequences and can I ever return

Overstaying more than 180 days but less than one year triggers a three year bar, and overstaying more than one year triggers a ten year bar. You cannot legally reenter the US during this time unless you apply for a waiver, which can be difficult but sometimes possible.

You are likely to have triggered a bar. You can't enter the county until the bar is lifted. Either you wait it out or get a waiver
