I have a valid tourist visa (B-2), but I recently married a U.S. citizen. Can I apply for adjustment of status without leaving the U.S.?

Yes, you can apply for adjustment of status if the marriage is genuine.

Be prepared to prove you didn’t enter on a tourist visa with the intent to stay permanently.

Once you file I-485, you can stay legally until the decision is made.

You may also apply for work authorization and Advance Parole while waiting.
