I filed my green card application and moved to a new address. What do I need to do to avoid problems with USCIS?

When you move, you are required to update your address with USCIS within the required timeframe. This is done by submitting an official address change through your USCIS account or the appropriate form. Updating your address ensures you receive important notices such as biometrics appointments, interview letters, or requests for evidence. Failing to update your address can result in missed deadlines, which may lead to delays or even denial of your application.

Even if you already updated your address with the post office, USCIS does not automatically receive that information. You should keep proof that the address change was submitted and verify that it appears correctly on all pending cases. If you have an attorney, confirm that both USCIS and your attorney have the updated address to avoid miscommunication.
