I filed an I-130 petition for my spouse last year and the case has been sitting at “actively reviewing” for months. I’m starting to worry something is wrong. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

That status is very common and usually just means your case is in the processing queue. Family-based petitions often sit in that stage for many months.

Unless USCIS sends you a request for evidence or a notice of intent to deny, there’s usually nothing to worry about. No news is often good news with immigration cases.

You can check processing times online and submit an inquiry if your case is outside the normal timeframe, but long waits by themselves don’t mean a problem.
