I applied for asylum a few years ago and my interview is scheduled soon. I’m nervous about what questions they will ask and how to prepare. What should I expect?

Asylum officers usually focus on your story: why you fled your country, any threats you faced, and your personal history. Be honest and consistent.

Bring any evidence you have to support your claim: documents, photos, news articles, anything that helps show why you fear returning.

Many people practice telling their story out loud before the interview. It helps to stay calm and answer clearly. You can also consult a lawyer to review your case and help prepare you.
