I applied for adjustment of status based on marriage, and I have advance parole. Is it safe to travel while my green card is pending?

If you have valid advance parole, you are generally permitted to travel and return while your adjustment application is pending. However, reentry is still subject to inspection by Customs and Border Protection. Travel should be temporary, and you should carry your advance parole document, receipt notices, and valid identification. Extended absences may raise questions about your intent to reside permanently in the U.S.

Even with advance parole, certain issues such as prior unlawful presence or removal orders could affect reentry. It is important to evaluate your full immigration history before traveling. If no complicating factors exist, short trips are typically manageable. Careful planning and document preparation can help ensure smooth reentry.

Secure an advance parole first, then make sure it's a short stay to avoid troubles when you return.
