I am writing on behalf of my uncle, who has been incarcerated for 23 years after a murder 2° conviction. His sentence was 15 years to life, and he was denied parole 4 times by the NYS Parole Board. He recently was granted release, and his release date is May 5, 2025. But they plan on turning him over to federal authorities for deportation because of the nature of his conviction and because he entered the USA from Russia through Canada illegally. He was in the United States about 9 months before his arrest and subsequent conviction. My question: IS THERE ANY WAY TO PREVENT HIS DEPORTATION? I am sure that if released, he would become a contributing productive member of society and never have any legal issues again. Can any immigration attorney help. We will hire you.

An immigration attorney can help file a motion to reopen or reconsider the deportation proceedings, arguing that circumstances have changed since the original order.

An attorney can also explore applying for relief from removal, such as cancellation of removal or withholding of removal, based on factors like rehabilitation, family ties, and contribution to society.
