I am from South Africa and I have a flight to the United States later this month. I want to make sure I have everything in order for a smooth entry, including my visa, travel documents, and any other requirements. What should I be checking before I travel to avoid problems at the border?

Check that your visa and passport are valid for your entire stay in the U.S. and that you meet all entry requirements for your visa type.

Carry supporting documents such as proof of return travel, financial resources, or letters from employers or schools if relevant. U.S. Customs and Border Protection may ask questions about the purpose of your trip. Being prepared with documentation can reduce delays or additional questioning. Always answer honestly and clearly to avoid complications.

Consider reviewing any current travel restrictions or health requirements before departure to ensure a smooth entry process.
