I am from Nigeria and I have visited the United States several times without any issues. I am now thinking about applying for a longer-term visa so I can spend more time there. I want to know how my past travel, ties to Nigeria, and reasons for staying longer might affect my chances.

A strong travel history that shows you always followed the rules can help your application. You should prepare evidence of work, family, or property in Nigeria. These ties help show that you plan to return home after your stay.

Make sure your financial records, employment information, and travel plans support the type of visa you want to apply for.

If you request a longer stay, expect more detailed questions during your interview. Officers want to understand your purpose and ensure you will respect the terms of the visa. Honest, clear answers always work in your favor. It may also help to get guidance from an immigration attorney before filing.
