I am from Japan, and after completing high school, I applied to a company in the United States for an internship opportunity. I want to know what visa options are available for someone in my situation, whether I qualify without a college degree, and what steps I should take if the company agrees to sponsor me.

Most U.S. internships require a specific visa, such as the J-1 Exchange Visitor visa. This visa often requires program sponsorship through an approved exchange organization. You may also need to show that the internship relates to your academic or career development.

Without college enrollment, your options may be limited. Some programs require you to be a current student or a recent graduate.

The company itself usually cannot directly sponsor a J-1 visa. You would need to work with a designated sponsor organization. Checking eligibility requirements early can help you plan the right pathway.
