The wait time depends on the beneficiary’s country of origin and the priority date listed in the Visa Bulletin. On average, it can range from 7 to over 12 years for many countries, and even longer for countries like Mexico and the Philippines, which have higher demand. After filing Form I-130, the case will remain pending until a visa number becomes available.

The time starts to count after the I-130 is filed and the priority date becomes current. The exact length depends on different factors, like the country and It will take longer if the child is married.
