DACA temporarily protects eligible undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children from deportation and grants them work authorization

To qualify, you must have arrived in the U.S. before age 16, have lived continuously in the country since June 15, 2007, and be under 31 as of June 15, 2012

Eligible applicants must have no lawful status as of June 15, 2012, be in school or have graduated (or be a military veteran), and not have a significant criminal record

DACA is renewable every two years but does not provide permanent legal status or a pathway to citizenship
