Hi, I’m from Botswana and I got accepted to a college in the U.S. My uncle in the UK is willing to sponsor my tuition and living costs. Will that be a problem for my F-1 visa application?

That's not a problem at all.

Sponsors don’t have to be in the U.S. Your uncle just needs to provide financial proof and a letter confirming he’s covering your expenses. The U.S. embassy just wants to see you can afford school and living costs.

No, it’s not a problem—F-1 visa sponsors can be family members, even if they live outside the U.S.

Just make sure your uncle provides strong financial documents to prove he can cover your expenses.

No, it won’t be a problem—your uncle can sponsor you for an F-1 visa as long as he proves sufficient financial support
