Fear has started to shape every decision I make since my status expired. I entered the United States legally, but now I am out of status, and the situation around me feels alarming. Every person I arrived with who is also out of status has already been arrested, deported, or served with a Notice to Appear. It feels like only a matter of time before I am next. I am from Serbia and do not know what realistic steps are left for me. What should someone in my position understand about their rights, risks, and possible defenses before enforcement reaches them?
