Generally, you need at least a U.S. advanced degree or its foreign equivalent to qualify for an EB-2 visa. However, if you don’t have a formal degree, you may still be eligible under the “exceptional ability” subcategory by demonstrating a high level of expertise through professional achievements, letters of recognition, and other supporting documentation.

You generally need either an advanced degree (master’s or higher) or a bachelor’s degree plus five years of progressive work experience for an EB-2 visa. Alternatively, you can qualify with exceptional ability in your field, but you cannot substitute work experience for a bachelor’s degree if you lack one.
