Comedy brought me to stages across the United States, and recently it also led to becoming a green card holder. Now my focus has shifted to family, and I want to reunite with them here. Coming from India, I know the process can be slow and confusing. What are the proper ways for a permanent resident to sponsor family members, and what should I expect?

As a green card holder, you can petition for your spouse and unmarried children. Parents and siblings are not eligible until you become a U.S. citizen. Processing times vary, especially for India.

You will need to file family-based petitions and provide proof of your relationship. Priority dates determine when visas become available.

Once a petition is approved, your family may wait months or years depending on category. Keeping documents organized helps avoid delays. An immigration attorney can help you plan the process realistically.
