Can someone re-enter the U.S. legally after deportation?

They must first wait out the reentry bar (5, 10, or 20 years, depending on the case).

They can apply for permission to reapply for admission using Form I-212.

If previously deported for an aggravated felony, they may be permanently inadmissible.
