Can someone on an O-1 visa transition to a green card through EB-1 without impacting their current status?

Yes, because both O-1 and EB-1 allow for "dual intent," meaning you can apply for a green card while in O-1 status.

Filing an I-140 doesn’t invalidate the O-1 visa, but travel during adjustment can be risky without Advance Parole.

Many O-1 holders use EB-1A (Extraordinary Ability) since the standards are similar but permanent.

If processed correctly, the O-1 holder can continue working and extend their visa until the green card is approved.
