Yes, a pending immigrant petition can affect approval of a tourist visa because tourist visas require proof of nonimmigrant intent. If the officer believes you intend to immigrate permanently, they may deny the tourist visa. You must demonstrate strong ties to your home country and intent to return after temporary travel.

While having an approved or pending immigrant petition does not automatically bar tourist visa issuance, it increases scrutiny. The burden is on the applicant to show temporary intent. Financial stability, employment, property ownership, and family ties abroad can help support the application, but approval remains discretionary.

It may because officers may interpret it as immigrant intent which isn’t allowed for tourist visa applications
