It depends on your visa category—H-4 spouses of H-1B holders can work with an EAD.

L-2 spouses of L-1 visa holders can also work automatically (no separate EAD required now).

Always check whether an EAD is required and whether your visa class allows spousal work rights.

Totally agree with the earlier response.

Whether your spouse can work in the U.S. as a dependent depends on your visa type.

H-4 visa holders (spouses of H-1B workers) may work if they obtain an Employment Authorization Document (EAD).

L-2 and E-2 dependent spouses can generally work without needing a separate work permit.

J-2 may also allow work with an EAD.

So, it all depends on your visa type.
