Can I get a work permit while waiting for my marriage-based green card?

Yes. If you applied for a marriage-based green card through Adjustment of Status (Form I-485) while inside the U.S., you can also file Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization. Once approved, USCIS will issue you an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), commonly known as a work permit, allowing you to work legally while your green card application is pending.
