Can I apply for asylum if I missed the one-year filing deadline?

In general, you must apply for asylum within one year of your last entry into the United States. If you file after the one-year deadline, your case could be denied unless you qualify for an exception.

If asylum is no longer an option, you might still qualify for withholding of removal, which has no deadline.

Yes, if you can show “changed circumstances” in your home country that now make it unsafe to return.
