Back in Poland, I never imagined I’d find myself living in Iowa, but here I am after arriving on a temporary work assignment that ends in a few months. I’ve enjoyed my time here and would like to explore ways to stay longer, maybe even transition to a more permanent status. I’m unsure if applying for a work visa extension, switching to a student visa, or seeking a different path is best. What legal steps can someone in my position take to remain in the U.S. without violating immigration rules?

You may qualify for a work visa extension if your employer supports it, or you could change status to a different visa if you meet the requirements. Consulting an immigration lawyer will help clarify your eligibility.
