No, Nigerians are currently not eligible to enter the U.S. Diversity Visa (green card) lottery. Nigeria has been excluded from recent lottery cycles because more than 50,000 Nigerian-born immigrants moved to the U.S. in the past five years, which makes the country ineligible under the program’s rules

The Diversity Visa program (DV lottery) still exists and is open to many countries each year, but Nigeria’s high immigration numbers have kept it off the eligible list for DV-2026 and likely upcoming cycles.

If you were born in Nigeria but have claim to another eligible country’s chargeability (for example, through a parent’s birthplace), you may be able to enter under that country’s eligibility. Otherwise, the typical DV lottery option is not available to most Nigerian-born applicants at this time.
