After living in Albania for two years, I entered the United States using travel documents tied to that stay, even though my nationality is Nigerian. Now I’m worried about how this travel history may affect my immigration record. Could this raise questions about my intent, residency, or eligibility if I apply for a new visa, adjustment of status, or any future U.S. immigration benefit?

Having lived in Albania before entering the U.S. is not a problem by itself if your visa and entry were lawful.

U.S. immigration mainly looks at nationality, visa category, and whether you were truthful throughout the process. Prior residence in another country may trigger extra questions but is common. What matters most is consistency and lawful compliance.

You should be ready to clearly explain why you lived in Albania and the purpose of your U.S. entry. Supporting documents like residence permits, visas, and travel history help reduce doubts. Misrepresentation is the bigger risk, not your travel path. Legal guidance is wise if you plan to apply for a long-term benefit.
