Can an H1B visa holder work remotely for a U.S. company while temporarily located outside the U.S., and what are the tax implications?

Yes, they can. But their work time abroad doesn’t count towards maintaining H1B status. For taxes, they may face U.S. income tax obligations if they meet residency requirements, and potentially foreign tax obligations depending on the country they’re working from.
