I want to apply for citizenship but I had a minor criminal charge a few years ago. Will that stop me from becoming a US citizen

A criminal record can affect eligibility for citizenship depending on the nature of the offense and when it occurred. Some minor offenses may not prevent approval, but others can impact the good moral character requirement

It is important to review the exact details of the charge and the outcome before applying. Even minor cases should be disclosed, and consulting with an immigration attorney can help determine whether it is safe to proceed with a naturalization application.
