With travel restrictions in place, how are green card holders affected if they need to travel urgently? I’m trying to figure out options

I had to travel urgently last year while holding a green card, and honestly, it was stressful. The key was making sure I had all my documents in order—my green card, passport, and proof of ties to the U.S., like my lease and tax returns. At the airport, they did ask a lot of questions, but as long as you’re prepared, it’s manageable.

From what I’ve seen, green card holders are generally allowed to travel, but the restrictions can make things tricky. If it’s an emergency, you might want to carry additional proof of your intent to return to the U.S., like a letter from your employer or evidence of family ties. It’s better to be over-prepared than risk issues at re-entry

I’ve heard that applying for a reentry permit can help if you’re planning to be away for an extended period. It’s not necessary for short trips, but it can provide peace of mind if there’s any uncertainty about your return
